What temperature limitations should be considered when using Duct Tape outdoors?

Temperature Limitations for Outdoor Duct Tape Use

1. Low Temperature Environment (Below -20°C)

At extremely low temperatures, the adhesive's flexibility decreases, and the bonding strength weakens significantly. It is recommended to place the tape in a room temperature environment for several minutes before use to allow it to regain its elasticity before application.

2. Room Temperature to Medium-High Temperature (-20°C to +60°C)

This temperature range is the standard operating range for Duct Tape, during which the tape maintains good adhesion, water resistance, and tear resistance. Suitable for most outdoor repair, fixing, and protection scenarios.

3. High Temperature Environment (Above +60°C)

When the ambient temperature exceeds 60°C, the adhesive will soften, leading to decreased bond strength and the risk of tape curling or detachment. If use at high temperatures is unavoidable, it is recommended to use high-temperature resistant Duct Tape and reinforce it as soon as possible after application.

4. Temperature Cycling and Diurnal Temperature Difference

In areas with large diurnal temperature variations, the tape will undergo thermal expansion and contraction cycles. To prevent the tape from loosening due to thermal expansion, it is recommended to allow appropriate tension during application and re-check and moderately compact it after the temperature rises.
