Key points for quickly repairing damaged plastic or metal parts:
1. Surface cleaning and degreasing
Use a clean cloth or alcohol to wipe the damaged area, thoroughly removing dust, grease, and corrosion products, ensuring the adhesive surface makes full contact with the substrate.
For metal surfaces, it is recommended to lightly sand them first to create a slight roughness, improving adhesion strength.
2. Cut the appropriate size tape
Cut a duct tape 1–2 cm wider than the damaged area, ensuring sufficient coverage.
For plastic parts, it is recommended to use a double-layer method; for metal parts, a single layer of reinforcement can be used followed by another reinforcement layer.
3. Compacting and fixing
Apply the tape firmly to the repair surface, using your palm or a stiff scraper to evenly compact it from the center outwards, removing air bubbles and strengthening the adhesion.
After the tape is applied, allow it to sit for at least 5 minutes to allow the pressure adhesive layer to fully penetrate and cure.
4. Post-Repair Inspection and Reinforcement
After repair, check that the edges of the tape are completely adhered. If necessary, add another layer of Duct Tape for secondary reinforcement.
For metal parts subjected to heavy loads, a protective cloth or metal foil can be wrapped around the outside of the tape to improve durability.
