How to use Bopp Tape Jumbo Roll on the packaging production line?

2025-10-03

Preliminary Preparation Work

1. Raw Material Inspection
Check whether the thickness, width, and length of the Bopp Tape Jumbo Roll meet the production specifications .
Confirm the type of adhesive (water based acrylic or other pressure sensitive adhesives), as well as its viscosity and curing time, to ensure it is compatible with the packaging materials.

2. Equipment Cleaning and Calibration
Remove dust and lubricate key equipment such as the reel conveyor, slitter, and laminator to prevent contamination of the adhesive surface.
Use calibration tools to detect tension, speed, and alignment accuracy to ensure the reel runs smoothly.

3. Safety and Environmental Inspection
Ensure that the ventilation, temperature, and humidity in the workshop are within the range recommended for the adhesive to avoid a decrease in adhesion due to environmental factors.
Install protective devices to prevent safety hazards caused by reel falling or accidental tape splashing.

Equipment Selection and Commissioning

1. Reel Conveyor System
Use a large reel conveyor device suitable for a width of 1280 mm to ensure the reel rotates smoothly throughout the production line.
Install a tension controller to prevent the tape from becoming loose or too tight during transportation.

2. Slitting and Cutting Device
Select a high precision slitter to cut the Jumbo Roll into the required widths (e.g., 50 mm, 100 mm, etc.) with smooth and burr free cuts.
Adjust the cutting speed and knife spacing to ensure that the cuts do not affect the integrity of the adhesive.

3. Laminating and Pressing Equipment
Use a hot press or cold press laminator and select the appropriate pressing temperature and pressure according to the characteristics of the adhesive.
Set up an automatic alignment system to ensure that the tape is precisely aligned with the packaging box, carton, or other substrates.

4. Automated Control System
Link the PLC or SCADA system with each piece of equipment to achieve real time monitoring and parameter adjustment of the entire process.
Record key indicators such as the usage amount and bonding strength of each batch of tape through data collection.

Laminating Process Flow

1. Reel Unwinding and Positioning
Move the Bopp Tape Jumbo Roll from the warehouse to the production line, fix it with a reel support, and unwind it.
Detect the starting position of the reel using a photoelectric sensor to ensure the adhesive side faces the correct direction.

2. Substrate Preparation
Clean the surface of the packaging box, cardboard, or plastic container to be bonded to remove oil and dust.
If pre heating is required, use a low temperature oven to increase the surface temperature of the substrate to enhance the bonding effect.

3. Tape Laminating
Start the laminator. The tape is smoothly fed out under tension control, and the pressure roller presses the tape onto the substrate under the set pressure.
For packaging that requires multi layer lamination, the second layer of tape can be applied after the first layer is cured.

4. Curing and Inspection
Set the curing time (room temperature curing or heat curing) according to the type of adhesive to ensure that the bonding strength meets the standard.
Randomly inspect the bonded parts using a tensile tester or peel tester, and the qualified rate should be maintained above 98%.
